Ruth 2:10-12

UNDER HIS WINGS

People of faith find themselves following God’s PLAN,

living under His PROTECTION and enjoying His PROVISION.

Ruth has many similarities with Mary, v. 10

• Ruth responded in genuine humility to Boaz’s generosity.
• There are several ways Ruth and Mary are similar.
• Both were humbly surprised at being noticed, Luke 1:26-29.
• Both trusted God without knowing many details, Luke 1:34.
• Without seeking it, both became a key part of God’s plan, Luke 1:46-48,54-55.

Ruth has many similarities with Abraham, vv. 11

• Boaz knew Ruth’s story and was obviously impressed with her character.
• There are several ways Ruth and Abraham are similar, Genesis 12:1-3.
• Both left the comfort of family and country.
• Both had very little information about the future.
• Both clearly trusted God to be in control.
• Both were part of God’s plan to impact the world through Jesus, the Messiah.

In recognition of Ruth’s godly character, Boaz prayed for God to reward her, v. 12

• He prayed for God to pour into Ruth’s life the types of things she had done for Naomi.
• The heart of Boaz’s blessing is on God: Under His wings.
• This is the same image of God bringing Israel out of Egypt, Exodus 19:3-6.

Live It Out

Do you want to live your life under His wings?

• Living under God’s wings is a choice, Hebrews 12:1-3.
• Be determined to lay aside anything that hinders your relationship with God.
• Develop a daily habit of confession and repentance.
• Pray for discernment and strength to do what pleases God.
• Make your life focus God in place of self: keeping our eyes on Jesus.
• Don’t give in and don’t give up, v. 3.
