About Calvary International Baptist Church

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

You are Welcome Here

Calvary is an international church located in the heart of the central business district of Bangkok.  People from all corners of the globe enjoy taking part in our ministries.  Despite the wide diversity of cultures, there is an amazing unity through the power of God.

Get to Know Us

CIBC is founded and grounded on God’s Holy Word, the Bible. Our vision and what we believe helps us to know where we are and where we are headed as we seek to glorify God in all we do. Our staff is firmly committed to leading His people to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

Developing hearts for God, each other, and beyond.

Our vision is  expressed through three levels of commitment.

Developing Hearts for God

In this first level of commitment, Sunday activities are designed to introduce people to God.  We have a firm commitment to the Bible so that Bible studies and sermons are firmly based on Bible teaching.

Developing Hearts for Each Other

In the next level of commitment, we offer a network of home groups.  Home groups provide a friendly atmosphere for spiritual growth, developing relationships, and reaching out to people who will not come to the church building.

Developing Hearts for Beyond

In the deepest level of commitment we provide opportunities to carry the gospel message beyond the doors of Calvary.  This includes a broad spectrum of meeting spiritual needs and physical needs.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

– 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

What We Believe

We believe God so guided the writers of the Bible that the original manuscripts were completely without error.  The Bible stands as our supreme and final authority on all issues of faith and life.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

We believe in one eternal and all-powerful God who reveals Himself in three persons as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:1,26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1, 4:24; Acts 5:3; Romans 1:20; Ephesians 4:5-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe Jesus was fully human and fully God.  He was born through the power of the Holy Spirit to Mary, who was a virgin.  (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13)

We believe God created man in His own image for the purpose of having a relationship with him.  Every person is in need of salvation in that he/she has sinned and caused his/her own separation from God.  (Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-24; Romans 3:25; 5:12-18; 1 John 1:8)

We believe that Jesus provides the only way to be made right with God.  Although we each deserve to die for our sin, Jesus chose to be the perfect sacrifice and die in our place on the cross.  He rose from the dead three days after being crucified.  We accept His death, burial, and resurrection by faith in order to receive forgiveness of sin and eternal life.  (Isaiah 53; Matthew 20:28; John 3:16; Romans 3:24-26; 5:1; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 2:2; Matthew 28:6; Romans 10:9; 1 Corinthians 15:14)

We believe that our salvation is based on Jesus’ death and resurrection and can never be lost.  Anyone who has truly come to God by faith can never fall away.  (Matthew 7:21-23; Matthew 24:22,31; 25:34; John 1:12-14; 3:16; 5:24; 6:44-45,65; 10:27-29; 15:16; Romans 5:9-10; 8:28-39; 10:13; 1 Peter 1:2-5; 1 John 2:19)

We believe that the Holy Spirit draws every person to God and comes to live inside each believer at the moment of faith.  As such, the Holy Spirit equips and enables every believer to live a life of faith.  (John 14:15-17,25-26; 15:26-27; 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; 2:1-41; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)

We believe that baptism by immersion is an important act of obedience but is not necessary for salvation.  It is a symbolic act by which a believer makes a public statement of faith in Jesus through His death, burial, and resurrection.  (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:35-39; 10:44-48; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 12:13)

We believe that taking part in the Lord’s Supper is an important act of obedience for believers.  It is an act of worship by which we honor the sacrifice of Jesus’ body and blood and His promise to return some day.  It is not necessary for salvation.  (Acts 2:42-46; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)

For a deeper understanding of what we believe, please see the Baptist Faith and Message that was adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.
